Winston involved in Florida State-Florida dustup

A benches-clearing melee broke out between the Florida State and University of Florida baseball teams Tuesday night after a Gators pitcher was roughed up on an awkward play at first base. Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston, a pitcher for the Seminoles, ran onto the field and was restrained by coaches and police, as were many players.

As you'll see in the above video, the fracas began when Florida State's D.J. Stewart hit a slow ground ball along the first-base line. Florida pitcher Danny Young rushed to field the slow roller, and when his momentum carried him into the basepath, the baserunner Stewart ran through him aggressively, knocking the pitcher to the turf.

Florida first baseman Zack Powers then confronted Stewart in defense of his teammate, and Stewart responded by shoving Powers. That's when both benches cleared.

Winston, a relief pitcher, was in the dugout and joined the dozens of players lingering around first base. It does not appear any punches were thrown.
