Kanye West on Jimmy Kimmel Live PART 1

Kanye West and Jimmy Kimmel quickly dispelled the idea their so-called rap feud was a publicity stunt during a sometimes uncomfortable appearance on the comedian's TV show.

Speculation that the rapper's anger over a Jimmy Kimmel Live parody skit that mocked him was staged was immediate after West lashed out at Kimmel in late September.

But both said that their beef was authentic during a 30-minute interview on Wednesday night's show in which West discussed a range of topics including his artistry, paparazzi, family, fashion and the idea of celebrity.

Kimmel said early in the interview that he knows West personally and always found him friendly, but that he seems misunderstood.

"I don't know if you know this, but a lot of people think you're a jerk," Kimmel said after West called himself an artistic genius. West was objecting to the idea that he's "just a celebrity."

"When you said you think you're a genius, I think that upsets people," Kimmel said. "But the truth is a lot of people think they're geniuses, but nobody says it because it's weird to say it. But it is most certainly more honest to say, 'I am a genius.' "

"I'm totally weird and totally honest and I'm totally inappropriate sometimes, and the thing is for me not to say I'm not a genius I'd be lying to you and to myself."

Kanye: 'Egos Can Flare Up'

The fight broke out the day after Kimmel hired a child actor to portray West in a recreation of an interview West gave on BBC Radio 1 in which he discussed the limitations he's faced as his fame has grown, among many other topics.

West told Kimmel he's often upset with his portrayal in the media but usually keeps his reaction to himself. This time, though, since he knew Kimmel, he felt he had a license to reach out by phone and discuss his disapproval man to man.

"That elevates sometimes," West said. "Jimmy does his thing, I do my thing, and at some point egos can flare up, and we kind of took it back to high school."

Kimmel showed the highlights from West's resulting Twitter rant – "You should have seen the second set of Tweets," West joked – and admitted he'd just seen a few snippets of the BBC interview before approving the skit and didn't realize how personal it was.

"I really felt bad about all this stuff, I did," Kimmel said after West walked on stage. West responded: "Mmm huh," but smiled widely after watching a portion of the skit.

In a sometimes stream-of-consciousness delivery, West talked passionately about discrimination based on class, protecting his music publishing from covetous drug dealers, false humility and his thoughts on and experience with high fashion. He also ranted against the Hollywood Walk of Fame organization for denying his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, a star and reflected on his recent negative interactions with paparazzi.

"The way the paparazzi talk to me and my family is disrespectful also, you know what I'm saying?" West said.

"We bring something of joy to the world. When people hear my music they have a good time, and I should be respected as such when I walk down the street. Don't ask me a question about something you saw on the tabloids. Don't try to antagonize me, because it's not safe for you in this zoo, you know? Never think that I'm not from Chicago for one second."

Though both denied it was a publicity stunt, they did take advantage of the opportunity. A commercial touting West's concert tour ran during the show and ABC's Nightline aired a segment on West in the wake of the appearance. West's appearance went long, pre-empting an appearance by Arctic Monkeys.

Kimmel thanked West for appearing on the show, and West responded: "Thank you for the platform."

A Picture’s Worth A Thousand Words: My Visual Journey With Ulcerative Colitis

Body image is not the first thing that comes to anyone’s mind when thinking about ulcerative colitis. Given the fact that UC is such a physically debilitating disease, the superficial side effects that come with it are often overshadowed.
The truth is, dealing with UC often results in many changes to our appearance, and it’s never easy to watch our bodies morph so quickly when we don’t have any control over them.
For those currently struggling with a flare up, I thought it would be helpful to see what my journey with UC actually looked like.  I’ve chosen a variety of photos that depict where I was and how I felt throughout the different stages of my disease.
Happy and Healthy
I’ll begin with my wedding.  I was marrying Mike, the man of my dreams, and life was so good.  I was happy, I was healthy, and I felt a great sense of optimism and hope for what the future would hold for us.
Our wedding day, October 13th, 2007
Later, when I was sick, I would look back at this photo often, hoping that I would one day feel this happy and healthy again.
The Flare Up Begins
Mike and I took a 10-day camping trip up the East Coast the summer after we got married.  I remember this time period like it was yesterday because I was struggling with the start of my UC flare up.
Skinny and unable to eat on vacation
This photo was taken at a restaurant on the last night of the trip.  Even though I don’t look sick here, I wasn’t able to eat anything that night, and I see that I had already lost a lot of weight.
I was scared, uncomfortable, and had no idea that things would only get worse.
In The Hospital
A few months later, I found myself in the hospital.  It was the first of many stays at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City.  I was having diarrhea up to 40 times/day and I was extremely anemic from all of the blood loss.
I was scheduled for an emergency blood transfusion (I wound up having two) to bring my blood counts back up.  I received my first doses of intravenous Prednisone to reduce the inflammation in my colon and bring me some immediate relief.
We spent our 1st Anniversary in the hospital
Mike was by my side, as always, throughout the entire ordeal.  It was also our 1st wedding anniversary, which we “celebrated” in my hospital room.
Halloween 2008
Halloween was a few days after I was released from the hospital.  I guess it was somewhat ironic that Mike and I dressed up as Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen because I had lost 15 lbs and looked like I hadn’t eaten in weeks.
Mike and I dressed up as The Olsen Twins
Mike again proved to be the best husband on earth as he let me polish his nails with black nail polish, just like an Olsen twin!
Hiding Behind A Wig
It took several months after my stay in the hospital to taper off of the Prednisone.  I was finally feeling a bit better, but the side effects were taking a toll.
My face was starting to blow up and I actually started growing hair, in patches, on my head and face.
The hair growth was particularly difficult for me because I had already grown accustomed to not having any hair.   I was diagnosed with alopecia areata when I was sixteen years old, and had spent years mourning the loss of all of my hair.
Now, I was forced to shave my head every morning to remove the stubble that grew in each day. My self confidence was tested with every shave.
A wig brought me comfort
On a few occasions I actually went out in public wearing a wig, which was something I never did aside from the annual Halloween party.  It felt like a simple way to cover up and hide from the reality of what I was facing every day.
Coping With A “Moon Face”
This photo haunts me because it looks like my face might actually pop!  I was swollen like a red tomato (“moon face”) and my cheeks blocked my vision when I looked down.
The “moon face” was a side effect of the steroid drug Prednisone
I was back in the hospital, this time with PCP pneumonia, a rare (and sometimes deadly) form of pneumonia that I contracted because my immune system was so compromised from the long term use of steroids.
To this day, I don’t know how I got through this awful time in my life.  I couldn’t even recognize myself in the mirror.
I remember crying to my husband and my sisters that I felt like I was literally in a nightmare.
A Skinny Selfie
The yo-yo weight loss and weight gain had taken full effect.  I was off of the Prednisone but wasn’t able to tolerate most foods and had lost 15 lbs again.
Skinny and pale after losing 15 lbs. again
Every day, for every meal, I was eating boiled chicken and white rice.  That was it.
It’s crazy to think about how imprisoned I felt – trapped in a body that really couldn’t function normally.
Hiding Under A Hat
I was back on the Prednisone hoping to find some relief in my colon, but my face was blowing up and the hair was coming back again.
My amazing friends made it a little easier
I wore a hat for a few weeks, just to cover up everything that was making me so insecure.
My husband, my family and my friends were extremely supportive during this horribly uncomfortable time in my life.
My Cousin’s Wedding
This photo was taken at my cousin’s wedding in New York City.  It was one of the most gorgeous weddings I had ever been to – and it was especially humbling for me because I was asked to read a passage at the ceremony.
Swollen and uncomfortable at their perfect wedding
It also goes down as one of the toughest nights of my life because I was so utterly self conscious and just in so much physical pain.  I remember having trouble standing up and actually borrowing a painkiller from another guest at the wedding.
I look at this and can’t even believe it’s me (especially next to my gorgeous cousin).
My Body Before Surgery
Six more months of battling UC was all I needed to finally make the decision to have my colon removed.  I had had enough – and I was ready for a fresh start in a comfortable body.
Pointing to the spot where I would soon have an ileostomy.
I took this photo the night before my surgery.  My doctor had marked up where the incisions would be made and I knew it was the last time I would see my body unscarred.
I am smiling here, but I was scared out of my mind.
Post Surgery Glee
What a difference 24 hours can make!  Here I am, post surgery, no colon, and ALREADY feeling better!
Just hours after my surgery
It took me several years to make the difficult decision to have this surgery, and it turned out to be the best thing I ever did for myself.
I’m Back!
One year later and I had my life back!  Happy, healthy, and on vacation with the man of my dreams.

Britney Spears Mocked by Houston Radio Hosts for "Stupid" Interview

Britney Spears is one of those people whose reputation supersedes her. Having been one of the biggest pop stars on the planet with a huge string of successes under her belt, she's still pretty high in demand.

Unfortunately, though, a lot of that demand is for interviews and BritBrit isn't exactly making her mark as the next great conversationalist of our generation.

Recently, Kid Rock slammed the pop star, saying that she was a "space cadet" with a "dead stare."

As if that wasn't enough, Simon Cowell finally addressed all the rumblings about her lack of...er, enthusiasm, on the X Factor, admitting that she was "uncomfortable."

Now, some local radio hosts from Houston are getting in the game, slamming Britney after a recent interview they did, which they say they can't even air because they got in "trouble" for some of the questions they asked.

Lamenting that they only had three topics that they were allowed to talk to her about, they said that Britney should have at least had answers prepared for anything on those subjects.

Fair enough, but in Britney's defense, she's busy being a mom, finishing an album and getting ready for her Vegas show, so we doubt she has a ton of time to dedicate to "prepping" for radio interviews in every city.

Still, the hosts were not happy.

"I'm sorry Britney Spears, you're worth more than $100 million and you know you're going on a tour of interviews, please have some answers more than 'uh huh, that's so cool,'" one of the hosts said, doing her best Britney impression for the 'uh huh' bit.

They also said that getting an answer out of her was like "pulling a marlin off of a boat" and said that she's an entertainer and should have been entertaining like Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera and even Kanye West are in interviews.

Check out the clip below and tell us if you think they were being a little hard on Britney or if you agree that an entertainer should entertain on and off the stage.

Jack Lamar Roberson Shot Dead By Police In Georgia After 911 Call For Medical Emergency, Family Says

Jack Lamar Roberson

Police in Georgia say they had no choice but to shoot a man who was, according to his family, experiencing an adverse reaction to medication he took for his diabetes.
The family of Jack Lamar Roberson claims they called 911 on Friday for medical help and that the 43-year-old was not a threat at all. Police say Roberson was armed.
"They just came in and shot him," Alcia Herron, Roberson's fiance, told First Coast News. "He didn't say nothing, the police didn't say nothing, anything, it was like a silent movie. You couldn't hear anything, all you could hear were the gun shots go off and I seen them going into his body and he just fell down."
Waycross Police Chief Tony Tanner said Monday that authorities responded to a suicide threat and that Roberson approached them “aggressively armed with two items used as weapons," according to the Florida Times-Union.
The chief refused to specify what those weapons were, according to the Associated Press.
Roberson's mother insisted that her son was unarmed and that there were "no weapons in this house whatsoever."
"I saw my son shot down," she told the newspaper. “It was ‘Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom."
The officers involved were placed on administrative leave as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation reviews the case.
Many college students find it difficult to balance the requirements and responsibilities of earning an education and maintaining work, social and family obligations. In fact, 20% of college dropouts leave an education behind to assist and relieve the burden of family responsibilities, 43% fail classes and drop out because of sleeping for less than four hours a night (sometimes an reflection of poor balancing of work or social activities) and 33% of students say they are consistently absent from class due to life situations.
With such a high percentage of failure and dropouts in the higher education system it is safe to say that one of the main reasons students remove themselves from college is due to the responsibilities and pressure of non-school activities. This in turn leads us to question how students can properly balance earning an education and maintain life obligations.
Discover Alternative Educational Resources
The first step to balancing multiple responsibilities is to explore all the options available to students. Many college institutions offer alternatives to conventional courses in the form of night, adult education or online classes. Earning a bachelor degree online is quickly becoming the way of choice for many parents who are students or students with full time jobs, and in 2010 a study by the Babson Survey Research Group discovered that 6.1 million students participated in at least one online college course. Online classes offer a little more flexibility of scheduling and create opportunities of balance for college students.  To properly balance an education with other priorities, students may consider taking a few online courses and adult education classes.
Schedule Days in Time Blocks
After discovering the educational resources that may be available to students, we suggest students learn to block their time. By scheduling a full day in specific blocks of time, it allows students to see where their time is spent and keeps them on schedule. While emergencies or unknown situations may arise, maintaining a consistent time blocking schedule ensures proper time management for multiple responsibilities, reduces absenteeism from classes and encourages designated education time.
Get Enough Sleep
It is very important in time blocking that students allow themselves plenty of time for sleeping. In a study conducted by the Army Research Laboratory Field Element, it was found that “43 percent of failing students reported they were getting only 3 to 4 hours of sleep each night.” Without proper sleeping habits and at least 7 hours of sleep nightly, students loose motivation, have a hard time concentrating and increase the risk of failing to balance education with other life obligations including family, work and social activities.
Schedule Downtime
Every student needs time to relax and recuperate from the burdens of earning a degree, working a job and sharing family and friend obligations. While time blocking and organizing workloads, it is also important to remember to schedule in time for relaxation. Students need to manage their downtime in a constructive way to recuperate and prepare them to continue through their busy schedules.
Involve Family and Friends
The best way to maintain the balance between life and school is to involve those who are most important to students- their family and friends. Students that discuss coursework and their life decisions with those they are closest to tend to have more support, assistance and understanding from those who offer the heaviest balancing responsibilities. Through family and friend involvement, students are able to balance their lives to include earning a degree from a higher education institution.
Creating the Balance
It is possible for university students to create a balance between the many obligations of life and of earning an education. It takes considerable preparation through time blocking, organization of workloads and remembering to maintain sanity and health through enough sleep and downtime, but it can be done. It is through following these steps of how to balance life and school that many students have been able to continue on to earning a college degree.
